Now Hiring: Cook at Luminous Teahouse

Location: Longmont, CO
Type: Part-Time or Full-Time
Pay: $16–$20/hour (depending on experience)

About Us

Luminous Teahouse & Cafe is a queer-owned, locally-owned teahouse offering over 100 handcrafted tea blends and a premium Afternoon Tea experience. Our menu blends traditional tea fare with fusion-inspired flavors from Indian, Asian, and Latin cuisines. We’re expanding our culinary team to bring more creative, fresh, and high-quality food offerings to our guests.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with food prep for Afternoon Tea service, catering, and events — including prepping tea sandwiches, baked goods, scones, and pastries, as well as plating and portioning

  • Prepare a variety of café-style foods, including rice bowls, sandwiches, wraps, and quick lunch options

  • Ensure cleanliness, organization, and sanitation in the kitchen at all times

  • Support inventory checks, restocking, and basic kitchen operations

  • Follow kitchen protocols, food safety standards, and allergy procedures

  • Maintain awareness of food allergens and safe handling practices

Work Schedule

  • Must be available to work weekends and occasional evening or event shifts

  • Typical shifts are 4–8 hours, depending on business needs

  • Morning prep shifts and afternoon service are common

Requirements

  • Previous kitchen, café, or prep cook experience preferred

  • Food Handler’s Certificate (or willing to obtain within 30 days)

  • Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs

  • Strong understanding of flavor profiles with a willingness to explore global fusion cuisine

  • Creative mindset and a passion for food quality, innovation, and culinary creativity

This Role Is Ideal For Someone Who

  • Loves developing flavor ideas and helping evolve a curated specialty menu

  • Works well under pressure in a fast-paced kitchen

  • Is quick to think on their feet, confident problem-solving, and comfortable making decisions without step-by-step guidance

  • Enjoys being part of a small, purpose-driven team where ideas are welcomed and celebrated

  • Takes pride in well-prepared, thoughtfully presented food that complements the guest experience

Perks

  • Free tea during shifts and a 15% discount on all products

  • A creative, collaborative team environment

  • Opportunity to shape the menu and bring new food ideas to life

Additional Info

  • This position may begin with a 30-day trial/training period to ensure a mutual fit

  • Employment is at-will and ongoing employment is contingent on performance and business needs

Equal Opportunity Statement
